If you've thought about taking a workshop with me in Sedona and haven't yet, this is probably your chance! I am teaching fewer workshops these days to refocus on my New Mexico program for experienced painters. The Sedona workshops are for all levels and all media. I am eager to share this landscape with you, as it has been a very special part of my life for the last ten years. The workshop is only $300, runs Tuesday-Friday from 9-1 each day. After working with me in the mornings, you can take the afternoon to explore or, if you wish, I will be happy to give you optional painting assignments, and I will most likely be painting with you then, too. Don't forget that I can arrange lodging for you at the studio for only $70/night, and this will go fast as lodging is VERY limited. Please let me know if you are interested! I began drawing and painting at a very young age. At the age of 13, I entered my first art show with a pencil drawing of a young girl playing a lute and received an honorable mention. Since then, I have been in many shows and have fortunately won many awards.
I have made it my art practice to study with art mentors. These mentors have helped me enhance my skills and deepen my insights towards my art. Mentoring began with my Uncle Lester Gallagher at a young age. Lester was a well known oil painter in northern Indiana who specialized in painting the dunes of Lake Michigan. Since then, I have studied in oils, watercolor and for the last 30 years in pastel. During the last 13 years, I have studied with Albert Handell, who is well known in the art world and a master painter in both oils and pastels. Albert is a master at capturing the moment and amazing beauty of nature. I admire his work and am pleased to say Albert is my good friend. Mentors like Albert have encouraged my own artistic vision and helped me to realize my dreams.

Intuitive painting is the act of making marks and spreading pigment on a surface until it conveys a personal aesthetic. There is no predetermined finish or elaborate planning. My paintings are expressions of my life experience, everything which has touched and moved me along a path to the latest work. If the work fails to speak visually, no amount of esoteric rhetoric here will change it. Painting is a discipline which requires practice, passion, devotion, focus and an undying spirit of pursuing something which will never be attained.
